This crow had been watching the sandpipers feed on the shore and gave it a go. “It doesn't work for a crow, who only got a beakful of sand,” says Emil. Emil painted it in rich dark blues and purples on a white background, with a glowing deep golden reflection, and a light blue shadow, all converging on the crow's focal point.
