A slalom of Sanderlings

Seeing sanderlings race along the coast is a common winter sight, shares artist Emil Morhardt. But seeing a large group racing together is quite unusual. Emil captures the moment where small wading birds run across Santa Barbara's Leadbetter Beach in California. The large group moved together hurrying away from the thick sheet of foamy wave appearing in the foreground. Seafoam dots the sand in the background as a wave recedes back into the ocean.
