Breaking Cover

A Greater Roadrunner sprints forward with its body low and wings tucked tight, its long tail sweeping up and back in overlapping bands of rust, blue, and cream. Morhardt captures the fine barring of each tail feather in careful detail, while the streaked body plumage blurs slightly with the sense of speed. The bird's alert, forward-focused head completes an image of sudden, purposeful motion.
