Caught Mid-Preen

A Blue-Footed Booby I photographed in the Galapagos scratching itself with one of its eponymous feet. The soft, finely speckled gray-and-white plumage is built up in loose, sketch-like strokes, leaving the bird's vivid blue foot and sharp yellow eye as the only strong color notes against an otherwise pale, understated palette.
