Kisa the Peregrine Winging It
Kisa lives at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Whenever I visit her out in the museum yard, she is paying close attention to the songbirds in the nearby trees and clearly wishes she could still capture her own prey. Here she has her wings up and is giving it a shot. I painted her with great attention to feather detail in soft blues and grays in shadow, and warm browns in the sunlight against a white background. If a peregrine falcon can look romantic, this one does.
