The Crow and the Crab

An American Crow bends down to inspect a small crab holding its ground. The bird's glossy purple-black plumage rendered mostly in fine monochrome linework with a few warm orange touches picking out its eye and the crab's shell. The dynamic, downward-reaching pose and the confrontation between bird and crab give the piece real narrative energy and a touch of dry humor. According to Emil the crab won and scurried away.
