Three at Sunset

Three Sanderlings in warm, rufous breeding plumage walk together along a shoreline lit by the low, colored light of early morning or evening, a band of violet hills or clouds sitting on the horizon behind them. Their reflections pool beneath them in rich orange-brown tones, echoing the warmth of the sky. Brushed linework carries the dense rust-and-brown speckling across each bird's back, while glazing technique layers the warm sky color, the cooler blue of the water, and the glowing reflection into one unified, atmospheric scene. Mounted on 1/8" masonite then varnished. Ready for framing, no glass required.
