Among the Marsh Grass

A Great Egret stands among a scattering of small marsh grasses, its long white neck curving elegantly against a deep, near-black background that makes the bird's crisp white plumage and bright orange bill stand out with striking clarity. A stray twig and a few green-and-gold blades of grass at its feet ground the otherwise minimal composition in a real wetland setting.
