Traffic Congestation at the Beach

I painted this striking confluence of whimbrels and sanderlings on Hendry's Beach in Santa Barbara just as I photographed it; the whimbrels standing around and the sanderlings racing past, as is often the case. The whimbrels look to me like they're wondering why the sanderlings are running so close by, and cogitating on it.
